Evans has a knack for giving people the benefit of the doubt if she can. She wants to see the best in people. Lily is known for being nice to everyone (until they give her a reason not to be). Despite the fact that she's a muggle born, she was even best friends with Severus Snape for a while until he called her a mudblood. Even though people lose her friendship, she still isn't intentionally cruel to them, she'd just rather not associate with them. It really takes a lot to lose Lily's friendship, but once it's lost it's completely gone. There's no getting back in. But to anyone who has her friendship, and anyone who hasn't lost it really, Lily is the best friend anyone could have. She's loyal and a good listener. She likes to help people. Lily Evans just has a very kind heart.

Despite the fact that she was born to a muggle mother and father, Lily threw herself into her wizarding studies. She might not always know everything about the wizarding world, but once she's told something she catches on fast. She's really quite brilliant and actually enjoys studying, writing essays, and anything school related really. She loves potions and charms, excelling in those subjects even more than her already amazing marks in the other subjects she's taking. Lily is a very smart young witch, loved by almost everyone. Her teachers are generally very proud of her and expect nothing less that greatness of the red-haired girl.

Lily has beliefs and she sticks to them. She is a strong-willed young woman and will stand up for what she thinks is right. Despite the fact that she's very likeable, she's also known to be hot-headed when something gets under her skin. It's part of what makes her so unforgiving. She is willing to accept people for who they are, but if they're heading in the direction of the Dark Arts, she doesn't want to come along for the ride. If she's threatened, she'll stand up for herself. If her friends are threatened, she'll stand up for them. But once you've lost her good opinion, you've lost it for good. There is no getting back on her good side.

( HISTORY ) :
On the 30th of January, Petunia Evans got a sister. Lily was a red-haired little girl who at a young age developed an uncanny ability to do things that she really shouldn't have been able to do. She grew up with her sister in Cokeworth, England, within walking distance from Spinner's End. She showed great control over her magical ability early on and when she was nine-years-old, found out exactly what she was. She became good friends with Severus Snape who lived in Spinner's End. Though her sister made fun of him for being apparently a little less financially fortunate than they were, Lily thought that Severus was truly a good person. He taught her a lot about the wizarding world and how they really weren't supposed to do magic outside of Hogwarts, but that the adults went easy on kids who were younger than eleven. At first, Lily was afraid that she wouldn't get a letter from Hogwarts, but Severus kept telling her that she was sure to get in, and he was going to go too. He became her best friend.

She got her letter, just like Severus said she would. Petunia didn't seem to happy about it and Lily found out soon that her sister had been writing to the headmaster there. She bought her school supplies and her family saw her off on Platform 9 ¾ where she told her sister that maybe she could convince them to let Petunia in once she was there. But her sister said she was a freak and Lily boarded the train feeling more sad than relieved to go to school. Despite the fact that she was sorted into Gryffindor and Severus was sorted into Slytherin, the two remained good friends.

At Hogwarts she was accepted and she quickly became rather popular. Her new friends couldn't understand why she would spend so much time with a Slytherin. But Lily was constantly looking for the good in people and even though Severus tended to lean more toward purebloods, he wasn't really mean to Lily. They didn't like each others friends very much, but that didn't really matter at the time. It became a little difficult, though, as the years progressed.

Over time, Lily noticed that Severus was becoming more and more obsessed with the Dark Arts. Frequently she brought up his interest in the subject and questioned him about his friends. She wasn't shy with telling him exactly what she thought about his fascination and his friends. Things were always resolved between them, though, if only for a little while. They would talk about the letters she got over the summers, saying that she'd used magic and wasn't supposed to, but none of them seemed to be too serious and Lily hasn't hurt anyone. They would talk about classes and school work, the weather and everything in between. It went on like this for a while until their fifth year.

It was probably the most stressful year. They had OWLs to think about. Lily threw herself into studying and was very confident that she had done well when they exams were over. She went to find Severus to see how he'd done, and found four boys toying with him. She was familiar with James Potter, as he had begun asking her out already and she'd turned him down so far. It wasn't that she didn't like James, it was just that he was a little immature for her tastes. Remus Lupin was kinder, and Lily was more keen to be polite to him. Sirius just seemed to egg James on and Peter... well, Lily didn't have much to say about that one. In any case, Lily told them to stop messing with Severus, and that was when the greasy-haired boy called her a mudblood. Just like that, Lily wasn't friends with him anymore.

THE DRIVE TO THE TRAIN STATION WAS THE LONGEST ONE IN THE HISTORY OF CAR RIDES. AS USUAL, LILY'S SISTER SAT AS FAR AWAY FROM HER IN THE BACKSEAT AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. WHAT MADE PETUNIA DISLIKE MAGIC SO MUCH, LILY WOULD NEVER UNDERSTAND. SHE DIDN'T THINK IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR IT TO ALL BE JEALOUSY BUT SHE ALSO DIDN'T KNOW WHAT PETUNIA WOULD THINK SHE HAD TO BE AFRAID OF. LILY WASN'T GOING TO MAKE SOMETHING BAD HAPPEN TO HER OLDER SISTER, EVEN IF SOMETIMES THAT OPTION SOUNDED LIKE A GOOD IDEA. NO, LILY WAS MUCH MORE MATURE THAN THAT. WHILE THE IDEA OF HER SISTER'S CHAIR TOPPLING OVER AT THE DINNER TABLE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BRIEFLY AMUSING THOUGHT, LILY KNEW IT WOULDN'T FIX (AND WOULD PROBABLY MAKE THINGS MUCH WORSE) WHATEVER HAD HAPPENED BETWEEN HER AND HER SISTER. 

AS USUAL, LILY FELT SAD AND EXCITED AT THE SAME TIME AS HER PARENTS DROVE TO THE TRAIN STATION THAT WOULD SEPARATE HER AND HER FAMILY UNTIL CHRISTMAS. THE YOUNGER EVANS GIRL LOVED HER SCHOOL. IT WAS FILLED WITH STUDENTS JUST LIKE HER. OKAY, MAYBE NOT JUST LIKE HER, BUT PRETTY CLOSE. SOME OF THEM WERE MUGGLE BORN LIKE HER, SOME HAD KNOWN ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE THEIR ENTIRE LIFE. BUT THEY ALL HAD THE ABILITY TO DO MAGIC AS A SHARED TRAIT. LILY JUST HATED LEAVING ANOTHER SUMMER WITH HER SISTER ANGRY, JEALOUS, AFRAID, OR SOME COMBINATION OF THE THREE AT HER YET AGAIN. THAT, AND SHE MISSED HER PARENTS WHEN SHE WAS GONE. BUT THEY WERE SO PROUD OF HER, AND HOGWARTS REALLY WAS A PLACE THAT SHE BELONGED.

THE TRAIN STATION WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE. EVERY YEAR THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE, MOSTLY NON-MAGICAL BUT THAT DIDN'T BOTHER LILY ANY, TRYING TO GET SOMEWHERE. WHAT SHE FOUND AMUSING WAS THAT SHE NEVER REALLY KNEW WHERE ANY OF THEM WERE GOING, ASIDE FROM THE OTHER WITCHES AND WIZARDS OF COURSE. HER FATHER UNLOADED HER TRUNK FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR AND THEY MADE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE GATEWAY TO PLATFORM 9 ¾. SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHY HER SISTER HAD COME. PETUNIA CAME WITH THEM EVERY YEAR BUT SHE NEVER HAD ANYTHING NICE TO SAY. LILY ALMOST WANTED TO TELL HER TO GO BACK TO THE CAR AND CRY BUT THAT WAS JUST MEAN AND SHE KNEW THAT DEEP DOWN PETUNIA WASN'T A BAD PERSON. LILY ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE THE GOOD IN PEOPLE. EVERYONE HAD SOMETHING GOOD IN THEM, YOU JUST HAD TO LOOK FOR IT. BUT HER SISTER REALLY WAS BEING A LITTLE BRAT. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH HAPPIER OCCASION IF PETUNIA HAD STAYED HOME. MAYBE SHE'D COME BECAUSE SHE KNEW THEY WERE STILL SISTERS, NO MATTER HOW FAR APART THEY WERE BECOMING.

LILY GAVE HER MOTHER AND FATHER A HUG GOODBYE. SHE WENT TO DO THE SAME FOR HER SISTER BUT PETUNIA TURNED AWAY AND LEFT LILY WITH A FROWN ON HER FACE. SOMEDAY THEY WOULD BE CLOSE AGAIN. SHE GAVE HER MOTHER AND FATHER A FORCED SMILE AND ASSURED THEM THAT SHE'D BE FINE, AGAIN (JESUS SHE WAS GOING INTO HER SIXTH YEAR WEREN'T THEY OVER THE WHOLE PROTECTIVE THING NOW?) AND LOADED HER TRUNK ONTO THE TRAIN. FIRST THING WAS FIRST – SHE NEEDED TO GET TO THE OTHER PREFECTS. SHE FOUND A PLACE FOR HER TRUNK AND MADE HER WAY THROUGH THE TRAIN, SETTLING HERSELF IN FOR A LONG RIDE AND DETERMINED TO SHRUG OFF THE SADNESS FROM THE REJECTION PETUNIA HAD SLID HER WAY BY THE TIME SHE REACHED HOGWARTS.
