It was an understatement to say that Bengamin Myers was good at defensive magic, he was great at defensive magic, well most spells anyway. This one however, Benji just couldn't get.
He closed his eyes again and focused on his happy memory, "EXPECTOPATRONUM!" he yelled as he raised his wand, a faint light come out but then...nothing. "Come on!" He thought out loud, "Focus Myers, happy thoughts!" He had a good one, it was from his family vacation when he was 8. The happiest time of his entire life, but somehow it made him sad at the same time.
Benji dropped to the ground in frustration, he had been practicing for hours and had made no progress what so ever. Reaching over to grab his textbook Benji re-read for the 20th time that day how to cast a the spell. After reading the page twice more to ensure he understood what to do Benji rose to his feet and tried again, and again, and again. Still nothing.
"Bollocks!" He exclaimed a little louder than he intended. Surprised by his own outburst Benji decided to take a break from practice. Picking up his book he headed for the shade of a nearby tree. Sitting comfortably against the trunk, Benji looked out across the lake. It was only mid-day and the sun was shinning bright across the water. He took a deep breath and settled into the trees trunk contemplating why he just couldn't get that spell right. Benji had seen his classmates do it time and time again, they made it look so easy. The words of his professor and friends rang through his mind 'keep practicing, you'll get it soon'.
"How soon?," he muttered to himself under his breath. Benji he closed his eyes and rested his head on the tree, 'how soon?'
