( PERSONALITY ) : Ayumi is a rather quiet, studious girl. She is a bit socially awkward, majorly because she knows little English. She is a bit bookish, often with her nose in one book or other, and tends to prefer books to people. She doesn't trust new people much, but will accept help from a few certain people. She prefers the company of the other Gryffindors or her twin to anyone else.

Despite all this, there is another side to Ayumi. She loves watching Quidditch, and she's an adept player, despite having never played for real. She is energetic around people who she trusts and knows, sometimes even blabbering about something that she likes. She loves to sing and listen to music, and wants to join the choir at Hogwarts but is almost too shy to do so. She loves telling others about the Japanese festivals and culture. She is a pureblood, but doesn't act self-centered like most Pureblood lines.

Ayumi is very protective of those she's close to. If anyone hurts her sister, she will not hesitate to attack. She often carries potions ingredients around in her bag, and sometimes a vial or two of a specific potion that she just finished in class. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself or her friends, and has the knowledge to back up her threats. She keeps reading, keeping up with theories so she has a good base for her practical magic. She knows a good few defensive and offensive spells that she isn't afraid to use to protect herself or her friends.

( HAIR ) : Ayumi's hair is extremely long, reaching just past her hips, and falls in a straight black curtain down her back. She often keeps it in a braid, unplaiting it every morning to brush it out and redo the braid. It takes her a long time to brush and re-braid it every morning, often taking an hour or more. She takes really good care of her hair, seeing it as her best feature, second only to her eyes.
( EYES ) : Ayumi's eyes are a dark, chocolate brown, and very warm. Her eyelashes are long and dark, visible without makeup of any kind. She believes her eyes are her best feature. They are somewhat narrower than normal.
( FACIAL STRUCTURE ) : Ayumi's face is a bit rounder, as if she still has a bit of her little-kid pudginess in it. She has a slight angle to her cheeks, a sign that she is losing the roundness of her features. Her nose is smaller, but not noticeably so. 
( BODY STRUCTURE ) : Ayumi is slender, with very few curves to speak of. She is 4'9" tall, and will easily be 5'6 by the time she graduates. She weighs only 75 pounds at present. 
( ATTIRE ) : Around school, Ayume tends to wear her uniform in a more Japanese style, preferring the sweater-vest version of the uniform sweater, rather than the one with sleeves. At least in early fall and late spring. For casual wear, she has skirts and jeans, as well as both short- and long-sleeved shirts. She also has a few kimonos that she brought with her for special occasions like Christmas or the Fall Formal. She has a pair of sneakers to wear around school, almost like a cross between house slippers and normal shoes. She has a few pairs of flats to go with the kimonos as well.

( HISTORY ) : Natsumi and Daisuke were both from pureblood Japanese lines, meeting for the first time at the ball held between the two schools of magic every three years. She was only seven at the time and him nine, but they became fast friends. A few years later, Natsumi was able to go to the village not far from the schools, and they began to meet up there every time they were able. He graduated before she did, but his parents had a shop in the village, so they were still able to meet up every time she went to the village. It was the only all-magic village in all of Japan. When she graduated, her parents decided that they wanted to live in the village. A few years later, Natsumi and Daisuke married. When Natsumi was 23 years old, she had twin girls, who she named Ayumi and Azumi.

When the pair were five, they were put into the application process for the Majo Gakuen in Hokkaido, the best school for witches in all of Japan. Different from most other schools of magic in the world, the Majo Gakuen took in students as young as kindergarden, teaching theories to the students until the age of ten. On each student's tenth birthday, they are taken to the village nearby to get a wand. Ayumi's wand was a white one with a vine-floral design on it. Azumi's was a dark wand with a design that was similar to the one on Ayumi's, but different.

When the twins were just six, another baby was born. The baby was a boy, and named Kohaku for his amber eyes, so different from the twins' brown. With the six year age difference, Kohaku was never put into the Gakuen Uizado, as the children's parents knew about the impending transfer before the girls did.

When Ayumi went to get her wand, she was incredibly nervous and excited at the same time. She stood close to Azumi until they entered the wand shop. Once they entered the shop, simply called Tsue-Ten, and was amazed. She looked around at all the wands, stunned by the sheer number of them. She was startled by the appearance of the wandmaker, and elderly man named Fumio. When he handed her a wand to try, the first one didn't even work. It took a few wands for Ayumi to find the one that was meant for her. When she did, she saw gold sparks come out of the tip, and she felt a strange almost-wind, like someone had left the door open. Her sister Azumi was quicker in finding her own, but that was because Fumio had an idea and tried it. Their wands are twins, just like the girls, with dragon heartstrings from the same dragon. 

Ayumi and Azumi were moved into the beginners practical magic course, basically a class that teaches the absolute most basic spells. The class was pretty much for witches who just got their wands to practice using magic in a very controlled environment. Ayumi and Azumi were both excellent at the basic spells, including the levitation and disarming spells. In that class, they learned the equivalent of what Hogwarts students would learn in the first half of their first year. The next year, when the pair were eleven, they learned what a Hogwarts student learns in the second half of their first year. The year after that, the pair learned the things that a Hogwarts student would learn as a second year. 

That year was one of the most important for Ayumi. She began to be allowed to brew potions, rather than just watching the older students make them. Along with that, Ayumi was allowed to go to the dance with Majo Gakuen and Gakuen Uizado. A rule change had been put into effect after the twins' parents had gone to the first dance. There had been a prank-gone-wrong that put some younger kids in a life-threatening situation, so the school directors decided that it was safer to have students younger than ten be unable to attend. 

Ayumi and Azumi received a letter by owl one morning at breakfast the next year, telling them that they were going to have to leave Majo Gakuen in a few weeks. They hated the fact that they had to say good-bye to their friends, but they also knew that they couldn't do anything about it. Their father was getting transferred to the British Ministry of Magic as the Japanese Ambassador, so they would have to move to Britain. They began to study up on the school there, called Hogwarts, and learned just how rich in history the school was. They knew they wouldn't be caught up in history, but they figured that they would be about the same as the other students the same age as them.

As a present for their thirteenth birthdays, the twins each were given an owl from their parents. Ayumi's owl is a Christmas Island Hawk Owl, a less common breed of owl almost never found outside of Christmas Island unless somehow kept in captivity. She named the owl, a female, Emi-chan.

Five year old twins... A rare sight now. Especially for twins in a pureblood line. The number of pureblood lines were decreasing with every generation. It was definitely abnormal, but a good sign. Although... The twin girls would mean that, unless a boy was born to the parents, the Nanahara name would die out. The parents wouldn't want that. Unless, of course, the parents didn't care. The elementary division's headmistress knew that the mother's line was only pureblood coincidentally now. The mother's parents hadn't known the other was a pureblood until after marriage. She watched the twin girls hesitantly step into the building.

"What are you thinking about?" asked a voice behind her.

"Purebloods," she said honestly. "And the twin girls."

"The Nanahara twins?" the voice, male, responded. He was the magical theory teacher, and a new addition to the staff. "I was at school with their father. I knew the man personally. He was a good friend of mine, Daisuke."

"Well then... I'll leave you to watch over them," she told him. "Knowing their mother when she was a student here, I can say that those two will be unpredictable."

"Leave them to me headmistress," he said. His footsteps carried down the staircase of the main tower, then faded completely. She was alone again. As she had always been. Alone, yet not. She had her students, and that was all she wanted.
