Integra stood erect at the base of a staircase. The house was furnished in dark shades of emerald and black and looked as though someone had spent quite a bit of money on it. The exact amount could never be disclosed as the owners were very tight lipped about their fortune and what they did with it. How they came into it was an even darker secret. The girl had grown into a woman now and though time had been kind to her the effects of her job were apparent. He eyes were darker around the edges and held more malice than she thought possible. Never the less at just 19 the young mistress was still very beautiful. “Snyevly, Have you seen Master Rabastan?” The house elf looked up at her fondly and nodded but once. “Master left. Went to secure the details of tonight’s endeavors. Said to tell Mistress not to worry. To tell Mistress not to leave without him.”
Thanking the elf, Integra stalked up the stairs and shut the door to her room behind her. On one wall was a large vanity table that held her precious things. A friend of hers had built it entirely out of human bone, singed black and carved for decoration and function. The mirror had been enchanted to work as a way of contact but unless she set out to use it, Integra primarily kept it cover to preserve her privacy. Sitting down the woman dipped her fingers into an ornately carved jewelry box and pulled out only one single ring. For this particular evening, getting all dolled up was pointless. But this particular item, Integra would never leave without. It was only off because she’d just come from the shower, and now it was back in its right place. The ring was precious not only because it signified her marriage to Rabastan, but because it was a very special gift he’d picked out just for her. He’d forcibly cut the ring off the finger of their first victim. Their first mission together had gone smashingly a retired auror and his perishing mother lived in a house full of far too many incriminating objects. Ichabod wanted them back and sent Rab and Teggy after the effects. Unfortunately the auror and his mother were subject to the pairs pent up insanity and were far too slow to fight back properly. They were slaughtered, and the younglings were left victorious.
Their instructions had been to bring the specific objects back unharmed, and unaltered, as well as produce anything that seemed of significant value left in the house. They were allowed to loot the rest a they wished, and burn down the property. Rabastan had nabbed the antique wedding ring and given it to her as a token of his love and his proposal to rebel against all the wishes of their families. It was now her most prized possession. With a sigh, she cracked her back a little and slipped the ring on her finger. There were a few things she needed to do before leaving for the evening, and why not attend to them before Rabastan returned.
Coming quickly down the white marble stairs, Integra’s heels echoed through the entry hall and down the corridor to the first level of the house. As she progressed down the hall, the furnishing was becoming more and more light until it was entirely white. A door at the end of the hall lead into a large empty room with a wide window in the opposite wall. The woman dressed in black, contrasted against the room as she crossed to the window and surveyed the room just on the other side of the glass. There was another woman inside. A woman older than Integra stood motionless in the center of an empty room with no view of the outside world at all. Her red hair was a total mess and her skin was paper thin. She looked very similar to the walking dead in horror movies.
Turning, the woman caught site of Integra in the window and though she had seemed previously slow moving, she lunged at the window with a shriek. Her forehead connected with it repeatedly as though she had no awareness of pain, only rage for the raven haired girl who kept her caged. Integra never so much as blinked, and just smiled at her. ”Ah Mother. Right where I left you.” Taking the tray of food, brought in by the house elf, Integra slid it under the door. ”Please eat the vegetables this time. And don’t fling the pudding around. It frustrates Sneyvly when he has to get out the ladder to clean your cell.” Integra hadn’t had the heart to kill her mother when she had the chance. And it wasn’t her fault she was like this. It had been an accident. Arcadia had done but one motherly thing in her entire life, and put herself between Integra and Ichabod last year. Integra had tried to salvage what was left of her mother and when it came to the decision to mercy kill her or lock her away, Integra spared the woman’s existence, but chose to punish her for the rest of her life. Or as long as her sanity held out. Which-ever came first.
The girl left her mother in a fit and made her way back to the entry hall just as a resounding crack echoed through the house. ”That’ll be the Master.” Trotting into the kitchen where her husband was examining a few unmarked vials, Integra smiled and put her arms around his neck, kissing him softly. A greeting she gave him every time he came home from work. ”Is everything ready for this evening?” There was nothing in this world that could make her happier than the life she lived now.
