He couldn’t seem to get her out of his head. Theodore Tonks wrote horrid poetry, tried his hand at watercolor paintings, tried to sing songs to the moon above, picked flowers and threw them into the lake in her memory, attempted to learn the rock guitar and pick up a few Beatles tunes that he had enjoyed in the summer months...anything and everything to forget and simultaneously remember his Zoe Lechance. Ever since her older sister had died, Zo had become more and more distant before pulling out of Hogwarts all together and leaving him in this particular state of confusion. They exchanged letters back and forth, but it seemed more like a friendship than anything else. They had only had the budding stages of romance, and unfortunately, it appeared as if the bud had died. In all honestly, he looked like a total loser, pouting about the castle, and he couldn’t bring himself to care.
Sitting there with his quill tucked behind his ear - abandoning the letter to Zoe - he was staring out over the grounds, trying his hardest not to think about her. It had been months - it was time for him to move on. It had been time for him to move on, but he seemed to be holding himself there because of the own fear in his heart. It was the last week of March and the sun had already begun to warm up the cold winter months, ushering in a new spring for the entirety of the castle to enjoy, Teddy included. It was now or never. His owl, Archimedes, pecked idly at the ground, obviously searching for food.
He was so focused on the way the sun was hitting the water that he managed to fling his arm over and knock the ink-well holding all the ink he had brought into the grass. “Such is the life of the broken hearted gentleman-” Teddy breathed as he leaned down to try and pick up the toppled and now empty ink-well, “I’m sure Shakespeare dropped a few bottles of ink in his hay day, eh, Archimedes-?” His eyes drifted up, but his owl was no longer next to him, but meandering across the grounds like a small chicken. He had to admit, Arch was a quick little guy...and he had a tendency to not listen to anything that he said.
“Arch! What are you doing?” He left his supplies and sprung to his feet, his lanky limbs flying out in all directions as he chased after his small owl. It half-flew half-ran around the grounds, continuously in a circle as Teddy went back and forth chasing him, “Halt! Stop! Hey!” He called, jumping over a few rocks that were in the way as he continued to sprint after Archimedes, “You stupid bird! No more chocolate frogs for you, you bloody animal!” He scrambled in a zig-zag formation, trying to catch the bird, not even remotely aware that there was now someone else on the grounds watching him.TAG; OPENNOTES; teddy my baby is back and ready to play! <3
