Risha woke with a smile on her face. No dreams last night, good or bad, and she felt completely refreshed. She pulled back the curtains on her bed and glanced quickly at the calendar that hung next it on the wall like she always did to make sure of the date and day of the week. Saturday. Good that meant she would have plenty of time to write her mother a simple letter, telling her about the week she had had and get it sent before she started on homework, but first, breakfast.
Risha quickly dressed, pulling on jeans on some simple navy blue ballet flats. She slipped into a loose, and slightly flowy top and pulled a sweater on over it all to keep her arms warm. She walked quickly out of her dorm room, through the common room, and then up the stairs into the entrance hall. Quick steps brought her to the doors of the great hall where she slipped through them, waved to her fellow Hufflepuff’s and went to join them.
Breakfast was an enjoyable enough affair, but Risha had things to do and one of those things included that letter to her mother. She very nearly skipped back to her room and sat down at a table with a quill, ink, and some parchment to begin writing. It didn’t take the 15 year old long to finish the short letter since nothing had really happened that week. She stuffed it into an envelope, addressed it and headed up to the owlery. She picked out a large brown school owl, attached the letter, and sent the bird on it’s way with a pat and smile. She was never sure how the owls knew where to go. Perhaps they could read. This thought brought a giggle bubbling up from her throat as she turned and headed for the door, hardly paying attention and clearly not thinking someone else may be coming up to the owl tower.
