The classroom was empty, it would remain this way for an hour or so before it filled with students. A single ray of sunshine from a very small window near the ceiling shone on one side of the room. Beakers reflected the light like crystals; the table was neat and organized, ready for potion making. Looking over at her desk towards the back of the classroom not too far away, she saw the dark space and nearly empty desk. There were hardly any equipment as she had dropped and damaged so many of them from her failed attempts at potion making. Professor Slughorn no doubt gave up repleneshing it of beakers and other such items.
Stasja's feet lead her to the table the light was directing her to. Taking a look around the classroom before putting her bag on the table, she pulled out a book and a small sack that tinked with small glass bottles. Flipping the book open to a page she marked with a leaf, she read the instructions carefully. This would be her first attempt at this potion, which is not commonly known. It was a potion that Eileen, her brainy Ravenclaw cousin, concocted. She would have just ordered Eileen to make the potion, but she'd actually stolen the book from her and from there just didn't know what to do. So she decided to do it herself- how hard could it be?
Her lips motioned with the words she read, attempting to grasp the concept of it. Stasja was never good at potions so this was like a muggle trying to tame a dragon. Taking a deep breath, she read the ingredients list out loud and took them out one by one from her sack.
One teaspoon of ground scarab beetles
One ginger root, diced
One wormwood leaf, whole
A jar of pickled murtlap tentacles
Three jobberknoll feathers
One Graphorn horn, finely ground
"Got them all," she whispered to herself before glancing back at the book to read the instructions. She'd read this page for the potion no less than fifty times this week. After reading the instructions three more times, she sat back on the stool and looked up at the window emmiting light.
Maybe she should just ask Eileen to make the potion. But... No. She wasn't going to ask for that wretched girls help!Hitting the table with her fist, she stood up and looked down at her ingredients.
"I can do this!" her voice rang loudly in the room. Then silence. And then a sound from the door made her turn towards its direction. At the same time her hand quickly snatched up the small book and burried it in her robe pocket.
