( PERSONALITY ) :
Vivian is a borderline socio-path/psychopath. Because of experiences as a child, Vivian developed a defence mechanism that allowed her not to feel the effects so keenly. Now she is close to emotionless, and displays many of the characteristics of a psychopath, mainly a lack of empathy, antisocial behaviour, egocentricity, superficial charm, manipulativeness, irresponsibility and impulsivity. Vivian has often been considered, and sometimes considers herself, to be amoral, but this is not the case; she can judge right and wrong, and can see when something is moral or immoral,  she just doesn't care.

Vivian hates to be left alone to her own thoughts, which has resulted in a deep hatred of boredom. She will use other people for entertainment, and will lie and manipulate effortlessly to get what she wants. For Vivian, the end justifies the means. She can't tolerate weakness in others, and so sees anyone who is taken advantage of as deserving of such treatment. Vivian can mimic the emotions she sees around her every day perfectly, making her an expert liar. 

Vivian is beautiful, and knows it. She is 1/4 Veela, and loves it. She uses it to her advantage all the time. She loves to be admired, and her beauty is yet another tool she uses to manipulate those around her. Often it feels like the only weapon in her arsenal. While Vivian knows that she is beautiful, she is not necessarily vain. She is rational, and knows that beauty is a genetic accident, not something she achieved. 

Vivian is very intelligent, but almost no one sees it. They just see her as a dumb blonde who does terribly in every lesson; Vivian is an undiagnosed dyslexic, and so finds school very hard. She does badly in every class and exam, but she just doesn't care. No one knows she is dyslexic, as Vivian is paranoid about showing weakness, sure that it will be taken advantage of. Partly because its just her way, and partly to mask her dyslexia, Vivian is not shy about letting people know she doesn't give a damn about her grades, that she thinks school work is boring, and that classes are a torture for her. She never does homework, and this, paired with the fact that she is impulsive and loves trouble (the opposite of boredom) means Vivian is in detention a lot; detention is hell for her.

( HISTORY ) :

Vivian's mother was half Veela, and very beautiful. Her father was a pure blooded wizard, and her mother was a Veela, who left after Alena was born. Alena always identified herself as a pure blood, despite being technically half breed. She was a Slytherin, and took up with another Pure Blood wizard, a handsome older man. She became pregnant, and gave birth to Vivian when she was 17. Vivian's Father left them. Alena raised Vivian by moving from rich man to rich man, using them for their money. When Vivian was 5 her mother married John Woods, a very wealthy and prominent pure blood wizard.

Vivian's father, Jack Blackwell, was older than Vivian's mother, and a notoriously bad character. He had a lot of influence, due to both his money and blood status, and the fear he inspired. He had killed people- everyone knew it- but the Ministry had never been able to make a single charge stick. Publicly Jack Blackwell always seemed to come out smelling of roses, while everyone knew the unspoken truth. Unbeknownst to Alena at the time, Jack had a son by another woman just before Alena became pregnant with Vivian. Vivian's half brother, Vincent*, was a year older than she was. When he was two, his mother died, and surprisingly Blackwell took him in. Whether it was because he felt some kind of obligation, or because he was a potential heir, Vivian never knew. She herself had no contact with her father in the following years. 

Vivian was just as beautiful as her mother, if not more so. Her mother resented her, as she saw how strong the Veela gene was in her daughter, and saw that she had her youth stretching in front of her, while her own was fading away. Her mother stopped paying attention to Vivian, and she was raised by a nanny and a tutor, both extremely long suffering. 

As Vivian got older, her step father started paying her a lot of attention. Her mother saw this, and was furious. She would hit Vivian, telling her she was bad. Her step father started to molest her, and her mother, rather than help her child, hated her even more. Years of Vivian's childhood were spent in a cycle of molestations and beatings. It was hell for Vivian, and at such a young age it seemed to her like it had gone on forever, and would have no end. It irrevocably shaped her as a person. Finally her mother decided to take her husband away from her daughter. They went travelling, and let Vivian at home with a nanny and a tutor. For several years they were away from the family home more than they were in it, and the hellish times when they were in the house were spaced out with a month or two of their being away. 

When Vivian came to Hogwarts she was instantly hated and admired. Girls hated her, and Vivian loved it. She could be very charming when she wanted to be, and would do anything to make things go her own way. She was delighted to suddenly be in the company of so many others who could entertain her, but it wasn't all smooth sailing for Vivian. She wasn't as confident as she is today, and was bullied (which had absolutely no effect on her, except that their lack of respect rankled the little girl). While she quickly came into her own, she was always different from the rest of her classmates, and never really made close friends.

It was only upon arriving at Hogwarts did she learn of the existence of her half brother, Vincent* Blackwell. He was also a Slytherin, in the year above her, and finding out about him felt like a hot knife in her back. He had lived with their father, while she had been left with the Woods, to endure all she had for so many years. She instantly hated him, and hated their father, and ignored him except to spit poisonous words in his direction, or glare if he dared meet her eye. In a big way, finding out about her brother was what brought Vivian out of her shell; in this new environment, finding hatred like that inside of herself was familiar. She found power in her reaction, where so many other girls of her age would have wilted like wall flowers. The relationship between the Blackwell siblings has always been a point of gossip and speculation for the other students.

Soon after arriving at Hogwarts, Vivian discovered that she couldn't do her school work like the other children. But she couldn't stand anyone knowing she had a weakness, so she simply proclaimed that school work was boring and pointless, and that she didn't care about it. She almost never did her homework, and progressed through school by the skin of her teeth.
