[/b] She shivered slightly at the thought of a thousand bees ganging up on one threatening being in order to protect their lover. It was all such ridiculousness. And yet, it was still true. Science was fascinating, almost as fascinating as magic. Darcy nodded along with him as he spoke of the house-characteristics, ”Well of course.”[/b] She agreed, tapping her fingertips against the table before smiling widely at Rogan, ”It’s in the sorting hat’s song. What Gryffindor’s supposed to be brave at heart and all that. It’s no wonder that you guys always feel like you’ve got to swoop in and be the heroes.”[/b] She blushed when she realized that she probably sounded as if she was insulting him, ”Merlin, I didn’t mean you Rogan.”[/b] She laughed nervously and began tucking her hair behind her ears again - her nervous ticks were beginning to show themselves only when she was anxious about what she was saying...otherwise she was completely fine.
Darcy blushed as he asked her to continue, ”Well you know, doing all that bee stuff. I’m pretty sure they would kill for the queen if they all got it into their head that that was what she wanted.”
’I love your babbling. I love your babbling. Please, keep babbling!’ Her mind was cooing at Rogan, but she managed to keep a straight face as she blushed, ”Don’t worry about it. I don’t normally talk this much, I swear.”[/b] Normally she was the quietest person around, but something in Rogan had stirred a different side of her. A side that she was rather beginning to enjoy. She listened as he practically gushed about the seafood and she could feel her stomach growling again. The muffin and granola bar hadn’t exactly been enough to tie her over until she got a midnight snack, ”Merlin that sounds like ambrosia!”[/b] She laughed as she tucked another tendril of hair behind her ears before looking up at Rogan from under her lashes, ”If I’m ever in the states...”[/b] She let her sentence fall off, trying her best to make things sound casual.
She was so embarrassed that it had taken him too long to recognize the joke that she just wanted to go hide in the restricted section. But he finally seemed to understand and smiled along with her and she was almost positive that she could see the faintest signs of a blush on those cheeks of his. They were a mess; if one of them wasn’t blushing, then it seemed as if they were doing it wrong, ”I could never hurt an animal.”[/b] She breathed, as if to solidify the fact that she had been joking around with him, ”I’ve loved animals all my life. I used to spend hours playing with my grandmother’s cat.”[/b] She blushed slightly and then tapped her hand against the table, realizing just how socially awkward she was being. Poor Rogan, she was almost certain that one of them was close to having a heart-attack from utter embarrassment, ”I get it.”[/b] She laughed slightly, trying to be brave and not let her emotions get the better of her in that moment, ”Trust me. Study-partner-date is probably the more appropriate term here.”[/b] Darcy’s lips parted slightly and gave way to a nearly inaudible giggle, but a giggle none the less. She honestly couldn’t get over what a fool she was being in that moment, but she wasn’t sure that she wanted to. There was something just...so incredibly alluring about being around Rogan and letting his personality make her feel like a giggling school-girl.
She hadn’t been expecting him to touch her, but as soon as he placed his hand over hers, she felt her heart give a skip. For a moment, she wasn’t breathing, she wasn’t doing anything except...feeling. Something in the pit of her stomach stirred for a moment, but she brushed off the feeling and pretended that it was nothing. Something about Rogan...something that she couldn’t quite figure out seemed to be bringing out the better in her and she had to admit, it was a glorious feeling, ”This Jack sounds like quite the character.”[/b] She managed to choke out before blushing profusely, ”But for the record, I don’t think that you’re socially inept. I think that it’s endearing.”[/b] And then, seemingly out of the blue, she suddenly felt Rogan’s lips against the top of her hand. Soft like velvet against her blushing skin, Darcy raised both of her eyebrows in extreme surprise, ”Merlin-”[/b] She practically whispered when he let got of her hand and then he went back to studying.
Darcy wasn’t sure what to say, but knew that she looked like a fool sitting there and staring at him, ”I-”[/b] She sucked in a deep breath, urging herself to come up with a conversation that would get her out of this...fit that she seemed to have fallen into, ”Do you want to go get real dinner?”[/b] She blurted and then immediately placed her hands over her mouth in shock. ‘What are you doing?!’ Her subconscious demanded, but Darcy Collins was far past listening to what her subconscious had to say about the matter.
