Jessie watched Jack get up and pace around the room taking pictures of various things, rolling her eyes slightly. It wasn't until he had paused and actually lined up a picture of the mantel that she thought, perhaps he might actually be really good someday. Jessie sighed slightly and shrugged her shoulders in acceptance when Jack suggested Rogan call her simply Jessie J. But when Rogan seemed to dismiss this idea in favor of Helen, two thoughts crossed her mind almost simultaneously. One was that she suddenly felt rather old, and the other was a slight flutter as she was pretty sure he was referring to Helen of Troy, who had a face that launched two nations into a war; especially since he seemed to really know his history. She threw her hands up as though giving up. "Well why don't you just go big or go home and call me Aphrodite if you're going to call me Helen," she said with a school girl's grin.
"Alright if this is just a mere playground scuffle, remind me to make myself scarce when the shit hits the fan," she said as they both assured her this was not a fight. She really was rather enjoying herself for the first time in a long time, without having already started kissing one of them. Usually her flirting got her further faster, but half of the time she had been staring at Rogan like squirrel at an acorn. It was odd for her to feel so at a loss around a boy, no matter how damn good looking he was. But he acted as though he had no clue to this innate charm he could wield with it, which of course simply made him that much more adorable. When he turned that smile of his towards her again and she just about lost it. "Rogan Sawyer, if you keep smilin' at me like that, I just may find it impossible to resist kissin' you," she said teasingly before answering his question. "Alabama mostly, but I've spent time in Louisiana as well. Mid to southern of both states."
Jessie was not expecting Rogan to snap at Jack like he did, and it caused her to sit back heavily on the couch. She watched him grind his teeth, marveling that his already strong jaw line could look even more defined than before. She cleared her throat slightly and patiently listened as he explained about his usual holiday arrangements. She could help but think I think I just won a jackpot, when he said she probably lived closer to Oxford. She smiled slightly and nodded to him "Actually my mamma is teaching English at West Oxford Primary while she takes night classes to get her masters. We live west of there near a nice big stand of trees," she said, trying to not sound too excited. "And never worry about being a bother. For all I know my daddy won't even be there, so it'd be nice to fill that empty chair."
Jessie stood up abruptly after finishing the sentence. She could feel her eyes starting to burn, a familiar sensation she didn't want the rest of the world to know she ever felt. Unlike some families, her dad had almost never missed a holiday, so when he did, it was even harder on her. She glanced at the cocktail and figured she might as well be early or on time to potions for once and avoid Riddle yelling at her and taking points away. She grabbed her stuff from the table where she and Jared had 'met' earlier that afternoon. She walker towards the portrait archway just as Rogan started in on Jack for spilling the hoods as it were. She paused at the door, turning back to Rogan. "Hey Ro. You wanna go to the formal with me? You don't have to answer right now, just think on it. But I wont wait around forever for an answer,"[/color] she said with a smile and a small wink before disappearing into the corridors. She walked slowly however just in case he decided to catch up with her. She really hoped he wold say yes.
