Lanta noticed a sudden shift in his tone of voice and for a moment, she was concerned. She didn’t want the giggling and light-hearted-ness that they had developed to stop and she feared that his shift of tone might have meant the end of it. But slowly she realized that it was a tone of sincerity and him expressing his feelings. She bit down on her lip, trying not to smile too widely at the prospect of Mikael thinking her one of a kind. She had always struggled a little bit with the way that she saw herself - she had always thought that she was meant to be a lowly and malicious as her older sister Des, but the longer that she was at Hogwarts, the more that she began to see that there were more than people than what their parents or older siblings thought they were destined to be, ”Eh, I guess you’re not so bad yourself.” Lanta said as she flashed him a wicked grin. She reached up and nudged him slightly with her palm and then scooted a little closer to him, her way of showing that she was only joking, ”I feel like we should have met before now. This laughing is doing wonders for my lack of sleep-” She looked over at him and smiled, pulling her knees up to her chest again. It didn’t feel like she was suffering from sleep-deprivation any more. In fact, she felt better than she had in ages.
‘Your family usually in that group at parties?’
Mikael’s question wasn’t that far-fetched, but Lanta was suddenly taken off-guard by the whole thing. She had forgotten how much had changed over the past couple of years. How estranged she had been growing from her family; how petty and silly they saw her little diva complex, ”Usually,” She said with a slight groan in her voice, ”See-” She moved so that she was facing him, knowing that it would be easier to understand if she actually flushed it out for him, ”Mum and Dad were in Slytherin. And my older brother was too. My sister Desi, who’s a couple years older than me, was sorted into Slytherin and saw herself as kind of a big deal-” She paused for a moment, looking over at Mikael to make sure that he was following her. It was by no means a complicated story, but Lanta wasn’t sure how much he knew about the way that the purebloods operated, ”There are so many parties to go to over the holidays, so many people to please. But the day that I was sorted into Hufflepuff everything got...weird.” She leaned back so that she was lying on her back on the grass, staring up at the clouded sky. A white fluffy billow passed through her line of vision and she couldn’t help but smile slightly, even though her story was basically about her estrangement from her family and their ideals, ”When you’re Pureblood it’s assumed that you’ll be a Slytherin or a Gryffindor...maybe even a Ravenclaw. But Hufflepuff? Hufflepuff everyone else just saw as a disgrace to the Vaisey name. Eventually I just started faking sick so I wouldn’t have to go and hang around those people.” She said honestly, her eyes still scanning the sky.
She moved onto her elbows again so that she would at least have a decent view of what Mikael was doing. He managed to flip the ball up with his foot and then neatly caught it, ”Ah, good to see those Keeper skills hard at work.” She commented with a slight laugh. She nodded her head as he described how he grew up and his ability to drink everyone else under the table. The very thought made her laugh, ”I’d like to see you try and drink me under the table.” She said, winking at him, ”See if you can best six-shot Lanta-” She sat up and used her right hand to knock the ball out of Mikael’s hands and caught it in her own, grinning at him as if mentally instigating a challenge.
