James was feeling lighter and happier than he had in days right at this moment. He watched with a small smile as Lily adjusted herself, and he stood up next to her. He chuckled lightly and wondered what the others would say, as well. Let them talk, James Potter had finally gotten the red headed girl of his dreams, and he was damn proud of that fact. It was no secret that he had been following Evans around like a little lost puppy for the better part of 5 years. It's not as if he never dated, but it was clear to the whole school that there was only one girl James ever truly gave a damn about, and that was Lillian Marie Evans.
He sighed deeply as she took his hand, feeling so in touch with himself and the world around him. He had his friends, his health, and his Lily flower, and right now, that was all he truly needed. Whatever was waiting for them in two years time when they took their final steps out of the Hogwarts gates, he could handle it if he felt the same way as he did presently. For this very night, James Atticus Potter felt invincible.
He smiled and rubbed Lily's fingers lightly, before pulling her closer to wrap his arm around her shoulder. "You look perfect, Lily. Always have, always will. Would you care to take one last stroll around the grounds before we eat, by any chance? I need to pick up my books from the locker room at the Quidditch Pitch before I head inside. It's the first week of lessons, and I swear I already have three essays. THREE! And they're each 5 foot assignments. I swear, the professors are trying to break me down, this year." James ranted a bit. He was taking an intense NEWT level course load in order to prepare for the Auror Academy after Hogwarts, and he was already feeling the pressure.
