She hit him! Alice didn't know it, but she was fighting a death eater. Phraxos was less than happy about it and Alice felt herself tensing up when his attention found her. Her own focus was pulled when the house elf entered the room, and then fell dead. Thane's struggle to revive her tugged on Alice's heart strings and she swallowed down a burning lump in her throat. Phraxos was still angry, though, and Alice looked up quickly as the curses started.
Spells were flying everywhere. She could have done it. Rabastan didn't have to defend her. Alice was sure she could do it. She was wrong. Phraxos Lestrange was a vile man. Alice couldn't imagine what kind of childhood Rab could have had in this house. As she started to back away, Rabastan stepped in. He was going to get hurt. Maybe they'd send him back to Azkaban. Maybe she'd be sent away for hexing someone. That was irrelevant now as her feet carried her after the two. She's only been this scared once in her life. She hated feeling like this.
Moving past Thane and Thorna, Alice gasped. A similar sound came from below thought it sounded much more angry. Lyra Lestrange was waiting below as Alice froze. She could do nothing to stop this. As both of them fell over the banister, Alice lunged forward again with a shriek. There was a crunch and her heart stopped as she heard Lyra scream. "You killed him!" Rabastan was dead, she just knew it, and now she was alone. Toeing the edge, the girl looked over at them and swallowed. Phraxos' body lay on the ground awkwardly in a pool of blood with Lyra crouched beside him looking up at her son.
"Rabastan..." She wasn't sure if the danger was gone, but Alice wanted out of there.
Lyra's eyes found the unfamiliar girl and she growled. "YOU! You pushed them! You killed my husband! You'll pay for this!"
Alice backed up a step shaking her head. "N-No... I... I didn't. It wasn't me. I didn't do anything." This was all wrong. This was a huge messy mistake. As Lyra stood from the body and ran for the stairs, Alice shrieked again and covered her ears clamping her eyes shut tight. Her trembling little body was backed into a corner at the end of the hall as she sank to the floor sobbing.
