"Yeah, Okay," He relented, "I would like to learn how to use a sword too, but what good is a sword against a capable magician and his wand? I mean really! And first years? I heard half of them couldn't even lift the things!" He laughed at the insanity of it all.
He watched her curvy writing spread over the paper and read each class to himself. She seemed to have a lot of them... or maybe he was just the under achiever and hadn't taken enough classes. He should do a survey in his free time, see if maybe he was below the bar in his studies.
"Yeah, Dumbledore seems like a real cool guy." He nods, thinking back to the short meeting he and his dad had had in the summer. Most of his transfer had been dealt with over mail, but his first arrival at Hogwarts had been to meet with Dumbledore. "he seems like a super intelligent guy."
“Can I ask you... Why are you being so nice? I mean, I appreciate it. But you don’t even know me…”
"Huh?" Eddie was completely caught of guard by the change of topic. Why was he being so nice? He hadn't thought about it. Wasn't just what people were supposed to do? If he saw a guy fallen in the street, he'd help him up and get him to safety, why shouldn't he go out of his way to help this girl? Okay, so their was a bit of self interest in it as well, so he figured it wasn't that simple.
“How about…. How about I do something for you?” it would be a lie to say that the boy's mind didn't go directly to the gutter. It was just such a weird thing for the girl to say, it was hard not to. It didn't linger there though. “Please, I insist. I’d like to pay you back for doing this for me. Name it, anything.”
"You don't owe me anything." Eddie said with a soft smile, "Seriously. I wouldn't being doing this if I didn't want to, so don't worry about it." He began packing his junk up, "I work summers as a candy striper at my local hospital. I guess seeing you in that cot made me think I was back at work." He laughed, and gave the girl a shrug.
" I guess I was kinda hoping I could make a friend, too. I mean, you're a sitting duck!" He points to her bad ankle, "You can't get away, so you're forced to put up with me! i figured you'd have to learn to like me eventually."
"That list done then?"
