Sirius couldn’t have approached Monika when he discovered it was her who was Ms. Valentine. He had been with Lily, and he had already revealed too much about how he felt about Monika at the moment to reveal any more. In all honesty, he had been ready to approach Monika and tell her right then and there who he really was but he resisted and had stormed back to Gryffindor tower, only to brood and go to bed and not sleep. His mind wandered to the gorgeous blonde as he stared up at the top of his four poster bed. He wasn’t sure what he could do, or if he should do anything at all. Sirius seemed to continuously forget that Monika was a Slytherin, but he didn’t care. He had spent one night with her, giving her kisses that were returned in kind, and he was surprised with himself that he hadn’t recognized those lips as hers on the night of the Ball. Sirius had never felt so much as a flicker of affection for any girl before, and now it seemed to overwhelm him in a way that he couldn’t explain.Sirius didn’t even so much as tell any of his mates about what had happened, mainly because he had gone to bed and hadn’t seen them before he drew the curtains. What was he supposed to say anyway? When morning came, Sirius attended his classes as usual but he didn’t pay attention – that part was normal, though. It just so happened that it was a day that he didn’t have classes with Slytherins, which was usually a blessing for him. Now he just hoped to glimpse her anywhere, but it didn’t happen. How could a Prefect suddenly go so unnoticed? He climbed up to Gryffindor tower and was surprised – and grateful – that he found the dormitory empty. Immediately he went to his trunk and changed out of his robes into a button up top and a pair of jeans. He glanced at himself in the mirror and suddenly became fixated on his hair. It seemed too messy… too unruly. He ran to another boy’s trunk and pulled out a tub of hair gel. He opened it and cringed, then looked in the mirror. Sirius wanted to look his best – and before he knew it he had put some gel into his hands, rubbed them together, and ran it through his hair. He looked ridiculous. Sirius tried to style it better and managed to be somewhat successful as it held his hair away from his face. He rolled his sleeves up to his elbows as he worked and reworked his hair.He then raced to the corridor where he knew flowers were. He always wondered why they were there, but on that particular day he was joyful about it. He plucked one flower from it and then took his wand out and multiplied them into a bouquet. They were no longer wilted, but now they were rather beautiful and lively. It was certainly refreshing considering the wintery atmosphere outdoors.Sirius checked the time and wondered why the Gryffindor common room was so empty, only to realize it was dinner time. Without thinking, he headed to the Great Hall where he knew Monika, too, would be. When he entered, the Hall was extremely busy. Every table was full to bursting and when he walked in he could feel eyes land on him. It was hard not to notice the boy with the giant bouquet in his hand. Sirius held his head high with his shoulders back as he noticed Monika at the Slytherin table. He felt no shame or embarrassment as he walked directly toward her. When he finally got to her, his eyes met hers. “These are for you, Ms. Valentine,” he said as he held the flowers slightly out, but not far enough out that rejection would make him have to draw them dramatically back. He heard a few ooh’s, particularly from the Slytherin table, but for some reason they sounded muted and faraway. Sirius’ confession about telling her who he was had played on his mind the entire night, and although he hadn’t planned on confessing feelings for a girl in the middle of the crowded Great Hall, he found that he didn’t care.
