Sirius felt incredibly restless. Going for a run in the forest in his dog form had almost become an addiction for him. He wasn't sure if he preferred his animal form or his human form lately. He just felt a little lost and like he had no direction in life. He acted surly even to his friends, and his usual grin was hard to come by. He didn't really know why he felt this way - it was just like lately he didn't know where he fit in the big scheme of things. Everyone he knew seemed to know what they were destined for or what they wanted. All Sirius wanted to do was be a Hogwarts student and he was becoming increasingly aware that it wasn't enough. He had been born into money and lately received a large inheritance from his uncle that would sustain him for as long as he could imagine. Yet it wasn't the same. He wanted a job, he wanted something. His life was beginning to feel empty, and with only just over a year left at Hogwarts, he didn't know what he was supposed to do.Sirius made his way down to the Forest on a cloudy Friday evening. He had hoped to get out while the sun was still high in the sky, but his plans had been foiled by detention for something that he actually didn't do for once. He thought vaguely about his promises to Juliet for her bathroom. It was something that he actually planned to do and he didn't know if he should include his other friends. He felt the need to at least ask Remus just in case Remus got the wrong idea of why he was doing it. It just seemed like fun, and that was what he was craving the most lately. The idea of putting it together with a friend or two was even better.Sirius reached the forest and casually strolled between the trees as if he belonged there. He had yet to be caught which surprised him. If it the Forest was so Forbidden, why was it not monitored more heavily? Within moments Sirius transformed into his dog self. He shook out his shaggy fur and looked around with his new heightened senses. He wasn't sure if his other friends had this need to be out in the woods just to run as much as he did. Sirius doubted it as the only time he ran with them was on the full moon. Then again, he never told them much about his runs so perhaps they did it on their own time just like he frequently did. With a quick bark, Sirius began to run. It felt like his feet barely even touched the ground. The Forest was familiar to him. He barely had to think about where he was going anymore. He figured he'd go to his favourite haunt which was a while out. It was a small opening that included some beach front. It was far enough out and around a bend so that no one at Hogwarts could spot him. The run usually took him about twenty minutes or a half an hour. He was lucky that despite all the snowfall lately that the trees were so clustered together that hardly any of it seemed to come through. Sirius could feel the cold in his eyes, nose, and the pads of his feet mostly. The rest of him was warm from the fur, and his pounding heart certainly helped.
