Peter made a strange face and mimed Sirius talking as he went on about his family status. Peter actually didn't mind Sirius tooting his own for once. The boy nearly glossed over his family history every single time it came up. He knew why; He knew the boy's family life was not a very nice thing and probably not something he wanted to be talking about, so he understood. On the other hand though, Peter had always felt that with being from a pure blood family with status and wealth, Sirius had some interesting stories to tell. Peter held pure blood families to the highest stature. To him, they were like the royalty of the wizarding world. And as the two boy danced around together on the path to no where Peter couldn't help but feel like a princess at a ball... which annoyed and offended him a little. If dancing hadn't been so fun, he would have pulled away.
"You should teach me how to dance for the Valentines day ball." Peter called loudly over the bellowing wind. "that way, I can woo a girl." Peter was excited about the upcoming masquerade. He had seen movies about them before, and he knew what hijinx and shenanigans would go down that lovely evening. It would be fairy tale, that is, if Peter could learn to dance. There was very little fun to be had in holding up the walls all evening while you watched the girls dance. Though, Peter would probably enjoy that too...
"Juliet..." Peter said the name softly. there was something about that girl that seemed to get boys in a tizzy. There was no doubt that Peter was envious of what Remus had, and it seemed Sirius was too. Something about that woman appealed to the boys on a primal level. Peter could feel himself sizing Remus up when he was with the woman. He had these thoughts about her, that he would never admit. He liked to think he was a better friend than what happened in his thoughts, but the truth was, if Juliet came to him and whispered seductive promises in his ear, he would have no self control.
Peter refused to think of her any longer. She was bringing their bonding time down. there had to be happier things to talk about at a time like this.
But then again, the whiskey seemed to have ways of bringing them down.
"What? Mean?" Peter looked up at Sirius as they walked. "I don't think you're mean." he thought out loud, "You're a bit of a wanker sometimes, but I like that. You tell things like it is, and I like that. No beating around the bush... and you're really funny! You joke about stuff, and you challenge people. People need to be challenged. They're too soft now a days.
"why do you think your mean?" He stopped walking so he could look up into Sirius' eyes, "who's been picking on you then? Huh?" Peter nodded his head off towards a direction off path where he assumed the castle would be and waved Sirius forwards, "Come on. let's go set them straight. No one picks on my friends. You can go beat them up, and I'll stand back for moral support, alright?"
Peter stopped to look around. The snow was pretty heavy at this point, and was blocking out pretty much everything. There were some lights off to their side, but besides that, he had no clue about their whereabouts. He spun the around and headed for the lights, assuming them to be from the castle. They had been walking a while, they had to be there soon, right?
"Right! I forgot you went with James this year." Peter mumbled, unzipping the fluffy jacket to cool down a little, "I bet that was cool. The Potters seem like nice people" he let out a melodramatic sigh and shrugged, "I stayed at the castle... again. My father worked the Christmas shifts at the post, so they didn't see a reason for me to come home. Got to play a lot of one sided chess. I hate that game.
"They did send me an assortment of candies from candies from Honeydukes though! I must be eating too much of them though, because they're disappearing really quickly." Peter made a confused face as he thought about the mystery of his disappearing candies. He couldn't figure it out. Had he really eaten half a tin of pepperimps since Christmas?
The boys came across the lights finally, only to find themselves in the street beside the Hogshead. Peter blinked, confused, and looked around. Had they walked around the world? How did they get so turned around that they were back in Hogsmead?
"Uhh... I think we're lost..." Peter giggled, flopping his hands to his side, " I give up!" He collapsed against his friend's side, "You lead us. I don't know where we're going..."
